17,500 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 17,500 bed nights (+5.9 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Savonlinna Region in April 2018. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 76 % and non-registered 24 %.
Between January and April, the number of paid bed nights was 81,600 (+10.7 %). Share of registered was 71 % and non-registered 29 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
13,300 registered bed nights
In April 2018, 13,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (-14.3 %), of which 11,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 13 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 23 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 14 percent from last year's April.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (1,200 nights).
9,900 nights (-8.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,400 nights (-26.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 44,500 registered bed nights (-17.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 13,500 (-13.1 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 58,000 (-16.7 %) registered nights.

Length of stay was 1.6 nights in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. In Savonlinna Region, length of stay in April was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 1.9 nights (-1.2 %).
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 1.5 nights (-3.6 %) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.7 %).
8,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.2 percent were domestic, and 9.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 1.5 nights (-0.07) and foreigners 1.9 nights (-0.17).

The airport received a total of 460 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 14 percent.
Of local passengers, 39.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 60.3 %.
In addition, there were 620 passengers departing the airport (+65.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1,100 (+38.7 %).

Accommodation sales 739,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in April were 739,000 euro (+91,100). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 16.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 617,000 euro (-9,000) and non-registered sales 121,000 euro (+100,000).
Total January-April sales were 3.2 million euro and they increased 358,000 euro from the previous year.
