Registered bed nights increased five percent

In April 2019, 15,300 bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (+5.1 %), of which 13,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,400 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased eight percent and foreign bed nights decreased 16 percent. In total, bed nights increased five percent from last year's April.

10,300 nights (-6.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,000 nights (+39.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and April, 56,600 bed nights (+15.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 13,600 (-2.6 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 70,200 (+11.3 %) nights.

Market share 1.0 percent

Total of 1.6 million bed nights (+2.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+4.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 356,000 nights (-3.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Savonlinna Region out of total bed nights was 1.0 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

7,900 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 13 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 90.8 percent were domestic, and 9.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 1.9 nights (+0.36) and foreigners 1.9 nights (+0.03).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased three percent

A total of 249,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 91.4 percent.

Russian visa applications increased 11 percent

There was a total of 76,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 83.1 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 980,000 euro

Registered accommodation sales in April were 980,000 euro (+331,000).

Registered January-April sales were 3.6 million euro and they increased 1.1 million euro from the previous year.
