6,100 registered bed nights

In May 2020, 6,100 bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (-71.3 %), of which 6,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 169 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 64 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 96 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 71 percent from last year's May.

2,700 nights (-83.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,500 nights (-34.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 44,200 bed nights (-39.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,300 (-38.4 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 55,500 (-39.4 %) nights.

Market share 2.0 percent

Total of 300,000 bed nights (-81.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 280,000 nights (-74.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 19,500 nights (-95.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Savonlinna Region out of total bed nights was 2.0 % (+0.7 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

3,100 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 72 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 98.4 percent were domestic, and 1.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 2.0 nights (+0.1) and foreigners 3.4 nights (+1.1).

19,400 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 19,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 66.8 percent.

There was a total of 470 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 35.9 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 292,000 euro

Registered accommodation sales in May were 292,000 euro (-860,000).

Registered January-May sales were 2.9 million euro and they decreased 1.9 million euro from the previous year.
