Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In May 2022, 18,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (+7.4 %), of which 17,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 930 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased four percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 260 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's May.

14,600 nights (+64.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,900 nights (-53.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 82,100 registered bed nights (+15.7 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,000 (+485.8 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 86,200 (+20.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.2 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+82.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+57.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 319,000 nights (+345.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Savonlinna Region out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (-0.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.4 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

12,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 17 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.1 percent were domestic, and 2.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 1.5 nights (-0.16) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+0.74).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 36 percent

A total of 32,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 76.2 percent.

Total accommodation sales in May were 1.6 million euro (+183,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 20.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.2 million euro (+307,000) and non-registered sales 330,000 euro (-124,000).

Total January-May sales were 6.3 million euro and they increased 839,000 euro from the previous year.
