22,900 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 22,900 bed nights (+5.9 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Savonlinna Region in December 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 77 % and non-registered 23 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 453,000 (-4.5 %). Share of registered was 74 % and non-registered 26 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
Registered bed nights increased 15 percent
In December 2022, 17,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna Region (+14.6 %), of which 16,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 840 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 18 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 25 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 15 percent from last year's December.
12,200 nights (+17.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,300 nights (+8.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 303,000 registered bed nights (-8.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 33,900 (+107.9 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna Region, in total 337,000 (-2.5 %) registered nights.

Length of stay increased 51 percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 51 percent compared to earlier year. In Savonlinna Region, length of stay in December was on average 2.3 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-7.8 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 2.3 nights (+2.6 %) and foreigners 3.4 nights (+1.9 %).
7,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 24 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.7 percent were domestic, and 3.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna Region on average 2.3 nights (+0.79) and foreigners 3.4 nights (+0.57).

The airport received a total of 73 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased nine percent.
Of local passengers, 27.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 72.6 %.
In addition, there were 57 passengers departing the airport (-8.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 130 (+0.8 %).

Accommodation sales 1.3 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 1.3 million euro (+201,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 15.4 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.1 million euro (+244,000) and non-registered sales 199,000 euro (-43,300).
Total January-December sales were 24.4 million euro and they increased 1.6 million euro from the previous year.
