Registered bed nights increased 34 percent

In May 2022, 14,900 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna (+34.4 %), of which 14,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 750 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 30 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 210 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 34 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (230 nights).

11,700 nights (+36.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,200 nights (+27.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 56,500 registered bed nights (+28.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,600 (+560.7 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna, in total 60,200 (+35.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.0 percent

Total of 1.5 million registered bed nights (+82.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+57.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 319,000 nights (+345.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Savonlinna out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.2 %.

9,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 33 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.9 percent were domestic, and 3.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna on average 1.6 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+0.68).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 36 percent

A total of 32,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 76.2 percent.

Accommodation sales 1.1 million euro

Total accommodation sales in May were 1.1 million euro (+252,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 21.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 905,000 euro (+309,000) and non-registered sales 245,000 euro (-56,600).

Total January-May sales were 4.3 million euro and they increased 995,000 euro from the previous year.
