26,300 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 26,300 bed nights (+13.4 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Savonlinna in September 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 71 % and non-registered 29 %.
Between January and September, the number of paid bed nights was 311,000 (+20.0 %). Share of registered was 74 % and non-registered 26 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 29 percent
In September 2021, 18,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna (+29.1 %), of which 16,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 20 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 290 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 29 percent from last year's September.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (1,200 nights).
14,400 nights (+40.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,200 nights (+0.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and September, 218,000 registered bed nights (+31.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 12,200 (-20.2 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna, in total 230,000 (+26.7 %) registered nights.

10,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 23 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.2 percent were domestic, and 3.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna on average 1.6 nights (0.0) and foreigners 4.6 nights (+0.05).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 40 percent
A total of 33,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 2,200 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 52.3 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 1.2 million euro
Total accommodation sales in September were 1.2 million euro (+83,100). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 21.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 916,000 euro (+132,000) and non-registered sales 256,000 euro (-49,100).
Total January-September sales were 14.0 million euro and they increased 2.8 million euro from the previous year.
