15,700 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 15,700 bed nights (+204.2 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Savonlinna in April 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 56 % and non-registered 44 %.
Between January and April, the number of paid bed nights was 53,500 (-1.7 %). Share of registered was 63 % and non-registered 37 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 640 percent
In April 2021, 8,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna (+635.2 %), of which 8,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 137 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 640 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 660 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 640 percent from last year's April.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (51 nights).
6,800 nights (+1,019.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,000 nights (+236.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 33,200 registered bed nights (+29.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 310 (-96.7 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna, in total 33,500 (-4.8 %) registered nights.

4,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 740 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.8 percent were domestic, and 1.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna on average 1.9 nights (-0.28) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.29).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 31 percent
A total of 26,200 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 68.4 percent.

There was a total of 1,100 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 40.1 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 692,000 euro
Total accommodation sales in April were 692,000 euro (+466,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 44.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 382,000 euro (+314,000) and non-registered sales 310,000 euro (+152,000).
Total January-April sales were 2.4 million euro and they decreased 102,000 euro from the previous year.
