Savonlinna: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased six percent
In June 2019, 41,300 bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna (+6.4 %), of which 31,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 10,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased seven percent and foreign bed nights increased five percent. In total, bed nights increased six percent from last year's June.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (5,700 nights).
33,500 nights (-2.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,800 nights (+69.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and June, 85,500 bed nights (+7.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 27,100 (+4.9 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna, in total 113,000 (+6.5 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

19,900 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 22 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 84.6 percent were domestic, and 15.4 percent were from foreign countries.
During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna on average 1.8 nights (-0.42) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+0.52).
420 air travelers
The airport received a total of 420 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 24 percent.
Of local passengers, 8.0 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 92.0 %.
In addition, there were 370 passengers departing the airport (-1.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 790 (+10.6 %).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased one percent
A total of 281,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 91.3 percent.

There was a total of 72,500 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 81.0 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 1.9 million euro
Registered accommodation sales in June were 1.9 million euro (+564,000).
Registered January-June sales were 5.5 million euro and they increased 1.3 million euro from the previous year.
