Registered bed nights increased 13 percent

In October 2021, 18,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Savonlinna (+13.0 %), of which 17,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 980 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased nine percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 260 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 13 percent from last year's October.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (530 nights).

13,700 nights (+9.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,400 nights (+24.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 235,000 registered bed nights (+29.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 13,200 (-15.3 %) for foreigners in Savonlinna, in total 248,000 (+25.6 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (+47.6 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.5 million nights (+39.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 200,000 nights (+149.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Savonlinna out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.5 %.

11,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 23 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.8 percent were domestic, and 2.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Savonlinna on average 1.5 nights (-0.17) and foreigners 3.8 nights (+0.96).

Accommodation sales 1.2 million euro

Total accommodation sales in October were 1.2 million euro (+113,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 15.5 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 997,000 euro (+226,000) and non-registered sales 183,000 euro (-112,000).

Total January-October sales were 15.2 million euro and they increased 2.9 million euro from the previous year.
