Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased one percent

In December 2019, 298,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Skåne County (+1.2 %), of which 223,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 75,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased two percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased one percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's December.

87,700 rooms (+12.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 89,600 rooms (+2.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 4.8 million registered bed nights (+4.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1.7 million (+6.2 %) for foreigners in Skåne County, in total 6.5 million (+4.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 8.6 percent

Total of 3.5 million registered bed nights (+0.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.7 million nights (+1.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 764,000 nights (-2.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Skåne County out of total registered bed nights was 8.6 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 8.3 % and foreign bed nights 9.9 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased one percent compared to earlier year. In Skåne County, length of stay in December was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 2.0 nights (-2.1 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Skåne County on average 1.7 nights (-0.8 %) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-1.5 %).

166,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased two percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 77.7 percent were domestic, and 22.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Skåne County on average 1.7 nights (+0.04) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.25).
