Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 45 percent

In May 2021, 400,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Skåne County (+45.3 %), of which 366,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 34,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 46 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 36 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 45 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Denmark (5,400 nights).

85,400 rooms (+67.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 61,500 rooms (+68.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 1.0 million registered bed nights (-1.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 124,000 (-45.1 %) for foreigners in Skåne County, in total 1.1 million (-9.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 12.2 percent

Total of 3.3 million registered bed nights (+46.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (+45.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 291,000 nights (+65.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Skåne County out of total registered bed nights was 12.2 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 12.2 % and foreign bed nights 11.7 %.

Length of stay was 2.2 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Skåne County, length of stay in May was on average 2.2 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-5.3 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Skåne County on average 2.1 nights (+2.3 %) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+42.8 %).

184,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 56 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.1 percent were domestic, and 5.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Skåne County on average 2.1 nights (-0.2) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+0.47).
