Registered bed nights increased 145 percent

In December 2021, 24,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Skellefteå (+144.8 %), of which 20,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 128 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 300 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 145 percent from last year's December.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Ireland (570 nights).

4,200 rooms (+216.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 10,200 rooms (+137.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 320,000 registered bed nights (+44.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 73,000 (+202.8 %) for foreigners in Skellefteå, in total 393,000 (+59.7 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.4 million registered bed nights (+85.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.8 million nights (+74.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 553,000 nights (+166.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Skellefteå out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.7 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

11,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 240 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 90.1 percent were domestic, and 9.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Skellefteå on average 2.0 nights (-0.89) and foreigners 3.5 nights (-0.45).
