In December 2018, 37,200 registered bed nights were recorded in Sodankylä (-0.1 %), of which 6,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 30,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased eight percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased two percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased less than one percent from last year's December.
29,500 nights (-4.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 7,700 nights (+22.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 94,300 registered bed nights (+9.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 126,000 (-3.1 %) for foreigners in Sodankylä, in total 220,000 (+1.8 %) registered nights.

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. In Sodankylä, length of stay in December was on average 2.4 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.4 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sodankylä on average 4.6 nights (+5.7 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+4.1 %).
