Registered bed nights increased nine percent
In April 2019, 15,800 registered bed nights were recorded in Sodankylä (+8.7 %), of which 12,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased three percent. In total, registered bed nights increased nine percent from last year's April.
11,400 nights (-6.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 4,400 nights (+90.7 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 34,600 registered bed nights (+13.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 69,800 (+8.4 %) for foreigners in Sodankylä, in total 104,000 (+10.0 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. In Sodankylä, length of stay in April was on average 3.2 nights and in Finland 1.9 nights (-0.4 %).
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sodankylä on average 3.4 nights (+13.8 %) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+11.5 %).
5,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 11 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 75.7 percent were domestic, and 24.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sodankylä on average 3.4 nights (-0.23) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.14).
