10,000 registered bed nights

In March 2021, 10,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Sodankylä (-32.5 %), of which 9,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 420 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 44 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 95 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 33 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from France (220 nights).

8,000 nights (-20.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 2,100 nights (-58.0 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 22,800 registered bed nights (+23.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1,000 (-97.9 %) for foreigners in Sodankylä, in total 23,800 (-64.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 863,000 registered bed nights (-13.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 816,000 nights (+11.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 47,100 nights (-82.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Sodankylä out of total registered bed nights was 1.2 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

Length of stay increased 14 percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 14 percent compared to earlier year. In Sodankylä, length of stay in March was on average 3.6 nights and in Finland 2.7 nights (+16.1 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sodankylä on average 3.6 nights (+14.9 %) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+47.9 %).

2,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 41 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.0 percent were domestic, and 4.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sodankylä on average 3.6 nights (+0.27) and foreigners 3.7 nights (+0.69).
