Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased seven percent

In March 2023, 17,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Sognefjord (+7.0 %), of which 11,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 46 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased seven percent from last year's March.

6,400 nights (+93.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,900 nights (-32.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 28,900 registered bed nights (-5.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 13,700 (+56.6 %) for foreigners in Sognefjord, in total 42,600 (+8.2 %) registered nights.

Total of 2.4 million registered bed nights (+2.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (+0.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 554,000 nights (+9.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Sognefjord out of total registered bed nights was 0.7 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 0.6 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.

Length of stay was 1.9 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 24 percent compared to earlier year. In Sognefjord, length of stay in March was on average 1.9 nights and in Norway 2.0 nights (-6.1 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sognefjord on average 2.0 nights (-23.8 %) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-48.0 %).

9,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 41 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 62.9 percent were domestic, and 37.1 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sognefjord on average 2.0 nights (-0.35) and foreigners 1.6 nights (-1.2).
