Registered bed nights increased five percent (January)
In January 2023, 55,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Sotkamo (+4.6 %), of which 52,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased two percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 80 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased five percent from last year's January.
49,600 nights (+1.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,800 nights (+47.0 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

16,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (January)
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 22 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.2 percent were domestic, and 4.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sotkamo on average 3.5 nights (-0.5) and foreigners 3.5 nights (-7.4).
Domestic visitor days were 119,000 (December 2022)
In December 2022, 119,000 domestic visitor days were recorded in Sotkamo. Registered nights by domestic visitors equaled 64,100.
Between January and December, 1.5 million domestic visitor days were recorded in Sotkamo. Registered nights by domestic visitors equaled 758,000.
The number of visitor days means the total number of days spent by domestic tourists in the area. The tourist must stay in the area for at least half an hour to be counted. They are also not counted in the statistics if they visit the area regularly.
