Registered bed nights increased 21 percent
In December 2018, 68,500 registered bed nights were recorded in Sotkamo (+21.1 %), of which 57,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 11,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 58 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 21 percent from last year's December.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (3,900 nights).
51,400 nights (+37.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 17,100 nights (-10.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 652,000 registered bed nights (+5.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 65,200 (+45.8 %) for foreigners in Sotkamo, in total 717,000 (+8.5 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Length of stay increased 21 percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 21 percent compared to earlier year. In Sotkamo, length of stay in December was on average 4.3 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (+1.4 %).
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sotkamo on average 4.1 nights (+3.5 %) and foreigners 5.6 nights (+23.7 %).
15,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 87.1 percent were domestic, and 12.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sotkamo on average 4.1 nights (+0.58) and foreigners 5.6 nights (+2.0).
