Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In January 2020, 67,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Sotkamo (+7.9 %), of which 52,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 15,200 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 19 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 18 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (12,700 nights).

61,400 nights (+9.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 6,000 nights (-4.0 %) by business visitors.

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (+8.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 957,000 nights (+10.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 714,000 nights (+5.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Sotkamo out of total registered bed nights was 4.0 % (-0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.5 % and foreign bed nights 2.1 %.

Length of stay was 4.0 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 16 percent compared to earlier year. In Sotkamo, length of stay in January was on average 4.0 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-1.9 %).

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sotkamo on average 3.6 nights and foreigners 6.6 nights .

16,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 29 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 86.4 percent were domestic, and 13.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sotkamo on average 3.6 nights (-0.51) and foreigners 6.6 nights (-1.2).

The airport received a total of 3,200 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 16 percent.

Of local passengers, 4.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 95.1 %.
