Registered bed nights increased 17 percent

In December 2021, 64,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Sotkamo (+17.5 %), of which 58,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased nine percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 360 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 17 percent from last year's December.

58,800 nights (+16.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 5,600 nights (+34.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 733,000 registered bed nights (+10.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 23,400 (-16.0 %) for foreigners in Sotkamo, in total 756,000 (+8.9 %) registered nights.

Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+109.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.0 million nights (+44.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 593,000 nights (+823.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Sotkamo out of total registered bed nights was 4.0 % (-3.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.8 % and foreign bed nights 1.0 %.
