47,500 registered bed nights (November)

In November 2019, 47,500 bed nights were recorded in South Karelia (-2.6 %), of which 30,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 17,300 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased two percent and foreign bed nights decreased three percent. In total, bed nights decreased three percent from last year's November.

Between January and November, 476,000 bed nights (+6.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 217,000 (+0.3 %) for foreigners in South Karelia, in total 693,000 (+4.7 %) nights.

34,500 nights (-4.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 13,000 nights (+2.7 %) by business visitors.

Market share 3.0 percent (November)

Total of 1.6 million bed nights (+4.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+5.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 453,000 nights (+3.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Karelia out of total bed nights was 3.0 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.7 % and foreign bed nights 3.8 %.

27,200 tourists arrived to accommodation (November)

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 64.2 percent were domestic, and 35.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Karelia on average 1.7 nights (+0.06) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.11).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 14 percent (November)

A total of 320,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 82.3 percent.

Russian visa applications decreased six percent (November)

There was a total of 55,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 76.9 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 2.4 million euro (November)

Total accommodation sales in November were 2.4 million euro (-62,800). The share of Airbnb was 10.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.2 million euro (-206,000) and Airbnb sales 222,000 euro (+143,000).

Total January-November sales were 33.0 million euro and they increased 2.5 million euro from the previous year.
