72,200 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 72,200 bed nights (+7.6 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in South Karelia in October 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 86 % and non-registered 14 %.
Between January and October, the number of paid bed nights was 618,000 (+14.2 %). Share of registered was 84 % and non-registered 16 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased two percent
In October 2022, 62,200 registered bed nights were recorded in South Karelia (+2.3 %), of which 58,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 111 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased two percent from last year's October.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Russia (800 nights).
41,800 nights (-11.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 20,400 nights (+50.4 %) by business visitors.
Between January and October, 473,000 registered bed nights (+6.5 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 46,900 (+220.5 %) for foreigners in South Karelia, in total 520,000 (+13.3 %) registered nights.

29,600 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 95.5 percent were domestic, and 4.5 percent were from foreign countries.
During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Karelia on average 2.1 nights (+0.01) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.49).

The airport received a total of 1,300 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 12 percent.
In addition, there were 1,000 passengers departing the airport (-17.9 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2,400 (+91.1 %).

30,600 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 30,600 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Russian visa applications increased 330 percent (June)
There was a total of 12,000 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 81.5 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 3.9 million euro
Total accommodation sales in October were 3.9 million euro (+885,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 9.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 3.6 million euro (+747,000) and non-registered sales 359,000 euro (+138,000).
Total January-October sales were 29.4 million euro and they increased 4.6 million euro from the previous year.
