63,600 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 63,600 bed nights (-14.0 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in South Karelia in October 2020. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 85 % and non-registered 15 %.
Between January and October, the number of paid bed nights was 557,000 (-26.8 %). Share of registered was 82 % and non-registered 18 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
54,300 registered bed nights
In October 2020, 54,300 registered bed nights were recorded in South Karelia (-16.1 %), of which 51,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 85 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 16 percent from last year's October.
41,200 nights (-18.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 13,100 nights (-8.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and October, 396,000 registered bed nights (-13.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 62,400 (-69.1 %) for foreigners in South Karelia, in total 458,000 (-30.2 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 30 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.7 percent were domestic, and 3.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Karelia on average 2.2 nights (+0.27) and foreigners 3.2 nights (+1.5).

Accommodation sales 2.9 million euro
Total accommodation sales in October were 2.9 million euro (-317,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 15.9 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.4 million euro (-526,000) and non-registered sales 462,000 euro (+209,000).
Total January-October sales were 24.5 million euro and they decreased 8.4 million euro from the previous year.
