54,200 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 54,200 bed nights (-0.2 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in South Karelia in September 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 86 % and non-registered 14 %.
Between January and September, the number of paid bed nights was 474,000 (-3.9 %). Share of registered was 84 % and non-registered 16 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased one percent
In September 2021, 46,600 registered bed nights were recorded in South Karelia (+0.6 %), of which 44,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased two percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 20 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's September.
29,700 nights (-0.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 16,900 nights (+2.0 %) by business visitors.
Between January and September, 385,000 registered bed nights (+11.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 13,000 (-78.2 %) for foreigners in South Karelia, in total 398,000 (-1.4 %) registered nights.

23,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 15 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.3 percent were domestic, and 3.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Karelia on average 2.0 nights (-0.19) and foreigners 2.9 nights (-11).

Accommodation sales 2.9 million euro
Total accommodation sales in September were 2.9 million euro (+181,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 9.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.6 million euro (+184,000) and non-registered sales 268,000 euro (-2,700).
Total January-September sales were 21.7 million euro and they increased 166,000 euro from the previous year.
