67,200 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 67,200 bed nights (+5.6 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in South Karelia in October 2021. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 91 % and non-registered 9.4 %.
Between January and October, the number of paid bed nights was 541,000 (-2.8 %). Share of registered was 85 % and non-registered 15 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 12 percent
In October 2021, 60,800 registered bed nights were recorded in South Karelia (+12.0 %), of which 59,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 15 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 38 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 12 percent from last year's October.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (220 nights).
47,300 nights (+14.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 13,600 nights (+3.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and October, 444,000 registered bed nights (+12.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 14,600 (-76.6 %) for foreigners in South Karelia, in total 459,000 (+0.2 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 19 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.3 percent were domestic, and 2.7 percent were from foreign countries.
During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Karelia on average 2.1 nights (-0.09) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-1.2).

Accommodation sales 3.1 million euro
Total accommodation sales in October were 3.1 million euro (+153,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 7.2 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.8 million euro (+394,000) and non-registered sales 221,000 euro (-241,000).
Total January-October sales were 24.8 million euro and they increased 345,000 euro from the previous year.
