Registered bed nights increased 10 percent

In November 2021, 36,900 registered bed nights were recorded in South Karelia (+10.2 %), of which 35,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 33 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 10 percent from last year's November.

25,700 nights (+17.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 11,200 nights (-3.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and November, 479,000 registered bed nights (+12.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 16,300 (-74.9 %) for foreigners in South Karelia, in total 496,000 (+0.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.6 percent

Total of 1.4 million registered bed nights (+70.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+53.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 278,000 nights (+220.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Karelia out of total registered bed nights was 2.6 % (-1.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.6 %.

19,700 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 24 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.0 percent were domestic, and 4.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During November, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Karelia on average 1.9 nights (-0.16) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-2.2).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 48 percent

A total of 35,100 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 70.7 percent.

Accommodation sales 2.2 million euro

Total accommodation sales in November were 2.2 million euro (+36,700). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 6.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.0 million euro (+249,000) and non-registered sales 147,000 euro (-212,000).

Total January-November sales were 27.0 million euro and they increased 354,000 euro from the previous year.
