South Ostrobothnia: Tourism in a nutshell
39,700 registered bed nights
In March 2019, 39,700 bed nights were recorded in South Ostrobothnia (-1.5 %), of which 38,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,700 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased two percent and foreign bed nights increased eight percent. In total, bed nights decreased one percent from last year's March.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from France (280 nights).
27,000 nights (-7.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 12,700 nights (+13.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 94,400 bed nights (-4.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 5,400 (-5.0 %) for foreigners in South Ostrobothnia, in total 99,800 (-4.9 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Total of 1.9 million bed nights (-2.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.3 million nights (-2.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 566,000 nights (-1.4 %) by foreigners.
The market share of South Ostrobothnia out of total bed nights was 2.1 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.
24,600 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 97.4 percent were domestic, and 2.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Ostrobothnia on average 1.6 nights (-0.19) and foreigners 2.6 nights (+0.12).

Registered accommodation sales in March were 1.8 million euro (+84,600).
Registered January-March sales were 5.0 million euro and they increased 219,000 euro from the previous year.
