Registered bed nights increased five percent

In October 2019, 52,100 bed nights were recorded in South Ostrobothnia (+4.8 %), of which 48,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased three percent and foreign bed nights increased 28 percent. In total, bed nights increased five percent from last year's October.

34,800 nights (+2.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 17,300 nights (+10.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 620,000 bed nights (+1.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 41,900 (+44.7 %) for foreigners in South Ostrobothnia, in total 661,000 (+3.1 %) nights.

Market share 3.1 percent

Total of 1.7 million bed nights (+7.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+5.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 436,000 nights (+12.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Ostrobothnia out of total bed nights was 3.1 % (-0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.8 %.

29,800 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 96.5 percent were domestic, and 3.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Ostrobothnia on average 1.7 nights (-0.08) and foreigners 3.3 nights (+0.67).

Accommodation sales 2.4 million euro

Registered accommodation sales in October were 2.4 million euro (+143,000).

Registered January-October sales were 28.1 million euro and they increased 1.3 million euro from the previous year.
