Registered bed nights increased 24 percent

In August 2021, 108,000 registered bed nights were recorded in South Ostrobothnia (+23.7 %), of which 106,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 2,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 23 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 41 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 24 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Poland (500 nights).

93,200 nights (+20.7 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 15,100 nights (+45.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 562,000 registered bed nights (+27.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 11,300 (+14.2 %) for foreigners in South Ostrobothnia, in total 573,000 (+27.1 %) registered nights.

Market share 5.3 percent

Total of 2.1 million registered bed nights (+22.9 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (+17.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 262,000 nights (+75.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights was 5.3 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.9 %.

58,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 19 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 99.0 percent were domestic, and 1.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Ostrobothnia on average 1.8 nights (+0.07) and foreigners 4.4 nights (+0.79).
