34,300 registered bed nights

In February 2019, 34,300 registered bed nights were recorded in South Ostrobothnia (-11.1 %), of which 32,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 10 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 36 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 11 percent from last year's February.

22,400 nights (-11.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 11,900 nights (-10.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 58,900 registered bed nights (-5.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3,700 (-11.9 %) for foreigners in South Ostrobothnia, in total 62,500 (-5.6 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.0 percent

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (+2.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (+3.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 604,000 nights (+0.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights was 2.0 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.9 % and foreign bed nights 0.3 %.

Length of stay was 1.6 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased seven percent compared to earlier year. In South Ostrobothnia, length of stay in February was on average 1.6 nights and in Finland 2.0 nights (-1.3 %).

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Ostrobothnia on average 1.6 nights (-8.6 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-2.1 %).

21,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.8 percent were domestic, and 3.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Ostrobothnia on average 1.6 nights (-0.11) and foreigners 2.2 nights (+0.02).
