87,600 registered bed nights

In August 2020, 87,600 registered bed nights were recorded in South Ostrobothnia (-6.1 %), of which 85,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 74 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased six percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (280 nights).

77,200 nights (+6.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 10,300 nights (-49.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 441,000 registered bed nights (-20.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 9,900 (-61.6 %) for foreigners in South Ostrobothnia, in total 451,000 (-21.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 5.2 percent

Total of 1.7 million registered bed nights (-30.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.5 million nights (-6.3 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 149,000 nights (-81.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Ostrobothnia out of total registered bed nights was 5.2 % (+1.4 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.6 % and foreign bed nights 1.2 %.

49,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 99.0 percent were domestic, and 1.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Ostrobothnia on average 1.7 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 3.6 nights (+0.07).
