49,800 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 49,800 bed nights (-2.0 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in South Savonia in December 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 59 % and non-registered 41 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 942,000 (-7.0 %). Share of registered was 64 % and non-registered 36 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 10 percent
In December 2022, 29,400 registered bed nights were recorded in South Savonia (+10.3 %), of which 27,800 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 12 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased seven percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 10 percent from last year's December.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (420 nights).
18,500 nights (+1.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 10,900 nights (+29.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 539,000 registered bed nights (-6.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 61,500 (+76.1 %) for foreigners in South Savonia, in total 600,000 (-1.3 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 14 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.9 percent were domestic, and 3.1 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Savonia on average 2.0 nights (+0.43) and foreigners 3.6 nights (+0.82).

A total of 33,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Accommodation sales 2.5 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 2.5 million euro (+153,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 31.3 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 1.7 million euro (+283,000) and non-registered sales 786,000 euro (-130,000).
Total January-December sales were 45.3 million euro and they increased 620,000 euro from the previous year.
