33,200 registered bed nights
In January 2020, 33,200 bed nights were recorded in South Savonia (-2.3 %), of which 22,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 11,100 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased three percent and foreign bed nights decreased one percent. In total, bed nights decreased two percent from last year's January.
18,400 nights (-3.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 14,800 nights (-1.2 %) by business visitors.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

18,200 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 12 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 80.2 percent were domestic, and 19.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Savonia on average 1.5 nights (-0.25) and foreigners 3.1 nights (-0.24).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 25 percent
A total of 291,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 91.8 percent.

There was a total of 37,100 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 81.1 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Registered accommodation sales in January were 1.8 million euro (+71,800).
