37,300 registered bed nights

In September 2020, 37,300 registered bed nights were recorded in South Savonia (-20.1 %), of which 34,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 3,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased three percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 73 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 20 percent from last year's September.

18,200 nights (-38.9 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 19,100 nights (+13.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 387,000 registered bed nights (-8.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 36,000 (-72.6 %) for foreigners in South Savonia, in total 423,000 (-23.4 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.0 percent

Total of 1.2 million registered bed nights (-32.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.1 million nights (-12.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 92,200 nights (-82.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Savonia out of total registered bed nights was 3.0 % (+0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.0 % and foreign bed nights 3.4 %.

20,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 20 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 98.4 percent were domestic, and 1.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Savonia on average 1.7 nights (+0.08) and foreigners 9.4 nights (+6.4).

23,800 Russian travelers via eastern border

A total of 23,800 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

There was a total of 610 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 60.7 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.

Accommodation sales 2.0 million euro

Registered accommodation sales in September were 2.0 million euro (-362,000).

Registered January-September sales were 19.6 million euro and they decreased 7.4 million euro from the previous year.
