Registered bed nights increased 34 percent (March)

In March 2022, 32,100 registered bed nights were recorded in South Savonia (+33.8 %), of which 30,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,500 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 29 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 340 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 34 percent from last year's March.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (530 nights).

20,100 nights (+64.3 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 12,000 nights (+2.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 79,700 registered bed nights (+19.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4,400 (+284.3 %) for foreigners in South Savonia, in total 84,000 (+23.6 %) registered nights.

Market share 1.8 percent (March)

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (+105.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+70.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 377,000 nights (+699.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Savonia out of total registered bed nights was 1.8 % (-1.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

18,200 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (March)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 48 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 97.7 percent were domestic, and 2.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Savonia on average 1.7 nights (-0.21) and foreigners 3.5 nights (-1.3).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 19 percent

A total of 31,300 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

The share of southeastern border stations was 75.5 percent.
