South Savonia: Tourism in a nutshell
5,700 registered bed nights
In April 2020, 5,700 bed nights were recorded in South Savonia (-81.9 %), of which 5,400 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 340 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 81 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 91 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 82 percent from last year's April.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (260 nights).
2,000 nights (-89.2 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 3,700 nights (-70.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 70,000 bed nights (-35.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 20,100 (-25.3 %) for foreigners in South Savonia, in total 90,100 (-33.8 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 86 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 98.8 percent were domestic, and 1.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Savonia on average 2.3 nights (+0.47) and foreigners 12 nights (+9.2).

20,100 Russian travelers via eastern border
A total of 20,100 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.
The share of southeastern border stations was 63.1 percent.

There was a total of 8,600 visa applications to Finland made by the Russians. 92.3 percent were done at St. Petersburg's consulate.
Accommodation sales 274,000 euro
Registered accommodation sales in April were 274,000 euro (-1.4 million).
Registered January-April sales were 4.9 million euro and they decreased 2.1 million euro from the previous year.
