Registered bed nights increased 19 percent

In September 2021, 44,500 registered bed nights were recorded in South Savonia (+19.3 %), of which 38,900 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 14 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 81 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 19 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Thailand (2,100 nights).

26,700 nights (+46.4 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 17,800 nights (-6.6 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 477,000 registered bed nights (+23.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 29,800 (-17.1 %) for foreigners in South Savonia, in total 507,000 (+19.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 2.8 percent

Total of 1.6 million registered bed nights (+29.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.4 million nights (+21.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 204,000 nights (+121.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Savonia out of total registered bed nights was 2.8 % (-0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 2.8 % and foreign bed nights 2.8 %.

24,800 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 22 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 96.4 percent were domestic, and 3.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Savonia on average 1.6 nights (-0.09) and foreigners 6.4 nights (-3.1).

Ferry arrivals from different harbors

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 40 percent

A total of 33,400 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Accommodation sales 3.6 million euro

Total accommodation sales in September were 3.6 million euro (+171,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 32.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.5 million euro (+436,000) and non-registered sales 1.2 million euro (-265,000).

Total January-September sales were 36.5 million euro and they increased 4.5 million euro from the previous year.
