84,200 registered bed nights

In August 2022, 84,200 registered bed nights were recorded in South Savonia (-0.7 %), of which 66,100 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 18,100 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 11 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 75 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased one percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (4,500 nights).

65,900 nights (+4.0 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 18,300 nights (-14.9 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 401,000 registered bed nights (-8.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 50,200 (+107.6 %) for foreigners in South Savonia, in total 452,000 (-2.4 %) registered nights.

Market share 3.6 percent

Total of 2.3 million registered bed nights (+13.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.8 million nights (-1.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 561,000 nights (+114.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of South Savonia out of total registered bed nights was 3.6 % (-0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 3.8 % and foreign bed nights 3.2 %.

42,400 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 88.7 percent were domestic, and 11.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in South Savonia on average 1.8 nights (+0.06) and foreigners 3.8 nights (+0.18).

Trips by Russian travelers over the eastern border increased 250 percent

A total of 129,000 Russians arrived in Finland over the eastern border crossings.

Accommodation sales 5.6 million euro

Total accommodation sales in August were 5.6 million euro (-220,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 26.0 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 4.2 million euro (-93,000) and non-registered sales 1.5 million euro (-126,000).

Total January-August sales were 33.4 million euro and they increased 425,000 euro from the previous year.
