Southwest Finland: Tourism in a nutshell
18,100 registered bed nights (May)
In May 2020, 18,100 bed nights were recorded in Southwest Finland (-81.4 %), of which 17,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 900 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights decreased 78 percent and foreign bed nights decreased 95 percent. In total, bed nights decreased 81 percent from last year's May.
Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Estonia (360 nights).
9,500 nights (-84.8 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 8,700 nights (-75.2 %) by business visitors.
Between January and May, 183,000 bed nights (-43.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 29,000 (-56.8 %) for foreigners in Southwest Finland, in total 212,000 (-46.1 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 86 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 93.7 percent were domestic, and 6.3 percent were from foreign countries.
During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Southwest Finland on average 2.3 nights (+0.69) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.44).
