Southwest Finland: Tourism in a nutshell

129,000 bed nights in paid accommodation (April)
Total of 129,000 bed nights (-0.4 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Southwest Finland in April 2023. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 74 % and non-registered 26 %.
Between January and April, the number of paid bed nights was 431,000 (+16.9 %). Share of registered was 76 % and non-registered 24 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
96,300 registered bed nights (April)
In April 2023, 96,300 registered bed nights were recorded in Southwest Finland (-4.3 %), of which 87,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 9,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 25 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased four percent from last year's April.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (1,400 nights).
68,500 nights (-5.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 27,700 nights (-0.8 %) by business visitors.
Between January and April, 297,000 registered bed nights (+14.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 31,300 (+43.3 %) for foreigners in Southwest Finland, in total 328,000 (+16.6 %) registered nights.

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.2 percent were domestic, and 6.8 percent were from foreign countries.
During April, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Southwest Finland on average 1.6 nights (+0.02) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.1).

Accommodation sales 6.9 million euro (April)
Total accommodation sales in April were 6.9 million euro (+101,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 18.7 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 5.6 million euro (-99,800) and non-registered sales 1.3 million euro (+200,000).
Total January-April sales were 23.7 million euro and they increased 4.6 million euro from the previous year.
