Southwest Finland: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
105,000 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 105,000 bed nights (+18.3 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Southwest Finland in December 2022. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 72 % and non-registered 28 %.
Between January and December, the number of paid bed nights was 1.8 million (+21.3 %). Share of registered was 76 % and non-registered 24 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Registered bed nights increased 17 percent
In December 2022, 75,600 registered bed nights were recorded in Southwest Finland (+16.9 %), of which 69,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 5,900 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 36 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 17 percent from last year's December.
55,000 nights (+15.6 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 20,600 nights (+20.5 %) by business visitors.
Between January and December, 1.2 million registered bed nights (+17.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 150,000 (+119.3 %) for foreigners in Southwest Finland, in total 1.4 million (+23.6 %) registered nights.

48,900 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 21 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 94.4 percent were domestic, and 5.6 percent were from foreign countries.
During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Southwest Finland on average 1.5 nights (-0.05) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.08).

Accommodation sales 5.6 million euro
Total accommodation sales in December were 5.6 million euro (+660,000). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 20.1 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 4.4 million euro (+337,000) and non-registered sales 1.1 million euro (+323,000).
Total January-December sales were 99.9 million euro and they increased 23.3 million euro from the previous year.
