Registered bed nights increased 10 percent (February)

In February 2020, 77,700 bed nights were recorded in Southwest Finland (+10.4 %), of which 66,200 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 11,500 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 13 percent and foreign bed nights decreased four percent. In total, bed nights increased 10 percent from last year's February.

Most foreign bed nights were recorded for travelers from Sweden (1,400 nights).

49,400 nights (+5.5 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 28,300 nights (+20.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 120,000 bed nights (+13.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 21,700 (-2.3 %) for foreigners in Southwest Finland, in total 142,000 (+10.5 %) nights.

Market share 4.2 percent (February)

Total of 1.8 million bed nights (+7.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.2 million nights (+10.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 613,000 nights (+1.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Southwest Finland out of total bed nights was 4.2 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 5.4 % and foreign bed nights 1.9 %.

46,700 tourists arrived to accommodation (February)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 87.7 percent were domestic, and 12.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Southwest Finland on average 1.6 nights (+0.06) and foreigners 2.0 nights (-0.08).

Registered accommodation sales in February were 4.4 million euro (+221,000).

Registered January-February sales were 8.3 million euro and they increased 744,000 euro from the previous year.
