Registered & non-registered accommodation. All changes are relative to the same period a year ago.
66,800 bed nights in paid accommodation
Total of 66,800 bed nights (-35.1 %) were recorded in paid accommodation in Southwest Finland in March 2020. This figure includes bed nights at registered establishments as well as at AirBnB and Vrbo. The share of registered bed nights was 66 % and non-registered 34 %.
Between January and March, the number of paid bed nights was 256,000 (-1.0 %). Share of registered was 73 % and non-registered 27 %.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, motels, guest houses, hostels, holiday villages and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 20 beds or caravan lots with an electrical connection point are excluded. Non-registered bed nights statistics include bed nights from AirBnB and Vrbo.
Paid bed nights
44,400 registered bed nights
In March 2020, 44,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Southwest Finland (-46.3 %), of which 37,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 46 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 47 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 46 percent from last year's March.
Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Poland (1,100 nights).
23,500 nights (-57.1 %) were spend by leisure visitors and 20,900 nights (-24.9 %) by business visitors.
Between January and March, 158,000 registered bed nights (-9.6 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 29,300 (-18.7 %) for foreigners in Southwest Finland, in total 187,000 (-11.2 %) registered nights.

Length of stay increased 17 percent in registered accommodation
Length of stay in registered accommodation increased 17 percent compared to earlier year. In Southwest Finland, length of stay in March was on average 1.9 nights and in Finland 2.3 nights (+14.6 %).
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Southwest Finland on average 1.8 nights (+3.6 %) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+4.2 %).
23,300 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 54 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.8 percent were domestic, and 10.2 percent were from foreign countries.
During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Southwest Finland on average 1.8 nights (+0.22) and foreigners 3.1 nights (+0.81).

Accommodation sales 3.3 million euro
Total accommodation sales in March were 3.3 million euro (-2.1 million). The share of Airbnb and Vrbo was 21.8 percent. Therefore, registered accommodation sales were 2.6 million euro (-2.3 million) and non-registered sales 719,000 euro (+222,000).
Total January-March sales were 13.3 million euro and they decreased 439,000 euro from the previous year.
