Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased three percent

In September 2019, 1.3 million registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm County (+2.5 %), of which 868,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 458,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased five percent. In total, registered bed nights increased three percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (57,000 nights).

385,000 rooms (+13.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 497,000 rooms (+5.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 7.4 million registered bed nights (+9.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4.4 million (-1.9 %) for foreigners in Stockholm County, in total 11.8 million (+4.8 %) registered nights.

Market share 29.4 percent

Total of 4.5 million registered bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+3.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.2 million nights (-1.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm County out of total registered bed nights was 29.4 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 25.8 % and foreign bed nights 39.6 %.

Length of stay was 1.8 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. In Stockholm County, length of stay in September was on average 1.8 nights and in Sweden 1.9 nights (-1.3 %).

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm County on average 1.7 nights (+0.5 %) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-1.9 %).

733,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 71.1 percent were domestic, and 28.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm County on average 1.7 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.07).

Registered January-September sales were 9.1 billion crowns and they increased 443.0 million crowns from the previous year.
