Paid bed nights

518,000 registered bed nights

In March 2020, 518,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm County (-52.1 %), of which 386,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 132,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 48 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 61 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 52 percent from last year's March.

144,000 rooms (-53.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 198,000 rooms (-53.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 1.7 million registered bed nights (-13.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 716,000 (-24.1 %) for foreigners in Stockholm County, in total 2.4 million (-16.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 18.4 percent

Total of 2.8 million registered bed nights (-37.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.4 million nights (-33.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 406,000 nights (-54.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm County out of total registered bed nights was 18.4 % (-5.6 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 16.0 % and foreign bed nights 32.5 %.

Length of stay increased eight percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased eight percent compared to earlier year. In Stockholm County, length of stay in March was on average 1.9 nights and in Sweden 2.7 nights (+19.0 %).

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm County on average 1.8 nights (+1.6 %) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+3.3 %).

276,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 56 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 79.7 percent were domestic, and 20.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm County on average 1.8 nights (+0.12) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.35).
