Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 64 percent

In May 2021, 550,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm County (+64.4 %), of which 469,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 81,700 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 68 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 45 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 64 percent from last year's May.

166,000 rooms (+82.1 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 156,000 rooms (+54.4 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 1.8 million registered bed nights (-16.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 386,000 (-52.8 %) for foreigners in Stockholm County, in total 2.2 million (-26.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 16.7 percent

Total of 3.3 million registered bed nights (+46.7 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (+45.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 291,000 nights (+65.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm County out of total registered bed nights was 16.7 % (+1.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 15.6 % and foreign bed nights 28.1 %.

Length of stay was 2.1 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased 10 percent compared to earlier year. In Stockholm County, length of stay in May was on average 2.1 nights and in Sweden 2.3 nights (-5.3 %).

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm County on average 2.0 nights (+17.6 %) and foreigners 3.0 nights (+40.9 %).

256,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 83 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 89.5 percent were domestic, and 10.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm County on average 2.0 nights (-0.18) and foreigners 3.0 nights (-0.68).
