Paid bed nights

Registered bed nights increased 73 percent

In August 2021, 1.2 million registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm County (+73.1 %), of which 864,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 316,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 53 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 166 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 73 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (67,100 nights).

363,000 rooms (+73.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 239,000 rooms (+60.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 4.3 million registered bed nights (+13.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1.1 million (-3.3 %) for foreigners in Stockholm County, in total 5.3 million (+9.9 %) registered nights.

Market share 14.0 percent

Total of 8.4 million registered bed nights (+39.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 6.8 million nights (+25.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.6 million nights (+160.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm County out of total registered bed nights was 14.0 % (+2.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 12.7 % and foreign bed nights 19.7 %.

Length of stay was 2.0 nights in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation decreased two percent compared to earlier year. In Stockholm County, length of stay in August was on average 2.0 nights and in Sweden 2.2 nights (-3.6 %).

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm County on average 1.9 nights (+7.9 %) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+8.0 %).

582,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 76 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 76.5 percent were domestic, and 23.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm County on average 1.9 nights (-0.03) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.36).
