Registered bed nights increased 62 percent (January)

In January 2023, 521,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+62.2 %), of which 346,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 175,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 54 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 82 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 62 percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (23,900 nights).

187,000 rooms (+59.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 161,000 rooms (+84.1 %) by business visitors.

Total of 3.2 million registered bed nights (+34.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.5 million nights (+29.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 640,000 nights (+58.3 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 16.4 % (+2.8 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 13.7 % and foreign bed nights 27.4 %.

269,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation (January)

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 78 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 71.7 percent were domestic, and 28.3 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.8 nights (-0.16) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.38).

2.0 million air travelers (August 2022)

The airport received a total of 2.0 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 100 percent.

Of local passengers, 82.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 17.9 %.

In addition, there were 1.3 million passengers departing the airport (+88.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.1 million (+99.1 %).

Domestic visitors and their consumption (December 2022)

The number of domestic visitors in December was 753,000 (+4.8 %). Out of them 294,000 were on a daytrip and 459,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and December was 10.5 million (+46.7 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in December was 1.4 billion SEK (1,902 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.1 billion SEK and day visitors 339.7 million SEK. Between January and December the consumption was 20.7 billion SEK.
