Stockholm: Tourism in a nutshell
Registered bed nights increased five percent
In October 2019, 889,000 bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+5.3 %), of which 556,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 333,000 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased nine percent and foreign bed nights increased less than one percent. In total, bed nights increased five percent from last year's October.
285,000 rooms (+23.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 294,000 rooms (-3.1 %) by business visitors.
Between January and October, 4.9 million bed nights (+11.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3.9 million (-2.5 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 8.9 million (+4.7 %) nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels, campsites, and commercially arranged rentals in private cottages and apartments. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

488,000 tourists arrived to accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased nine percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 68.1 percent were domestic, and 31.9 percent were from foreign countries.
During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.7 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 2.1 nights (-0.11).
1.2 million air travelers
The airport received a total of 1.2 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased five percent.
Of local passengers, 73.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 26.9 %.
In addition, there were 1.3 million passengers departing the airport (-4.4 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2.5 million (-4.7 %).

Registered accommodation sales in October were 793.6 million SEK (+38.8 million).
Registered January-October sales were 7.4 billion SEK and they increased 386.0 million euro from the previous year.
