564,000 registered bed nights

In January 2018, 564,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (-0.4 %), of which 331,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 233,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased six percent and registered foreign bed nights increased eight percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased less than one percent from last year's January.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United Kingdom (21,200 nights).

145,000 rooms (+9.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 215,000 rooms (-3.6 %) by business visitors.

Market share 15.2 percent

Total of 3.7 million registered bed nights (+6.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 2.9 million nights (+5.7 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 773,000 nights (+9.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 15.2 % (-1.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 11.3 % and foreign bed nights 30.2 %.

285,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased five percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 66.0 percent were domestic, and 34.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During January, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.8 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.23).

1.1 million air travelers

The airport received a total of 1.1 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased two percent.

Of local passengers, 73.2 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 26.8 %.

In addition, there were 970,000 passengers departing the airport (+2.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2.0 million (+2.2 %).

The number of domestic visitors in January was 523,000 (-7.4 %). Out of them 223,000 were on a daytrip and 300,000 stayed at least for one night.

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in January was 1.4 billion crowns (2,668 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.0 billion crowns and day visitors 363.7 million crowns.
