Registered bed nights increased eight percent

In March 2018, 727,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+7.7 %), of which 413,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 314,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased five percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 30 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased eight percent from last year's March.

200,000 rooms (+20.6 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 246,000 rooms (-6.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and March, 1.1 million registered bed nights (-4.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 794,000 (+16.9 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 1.9 million (+3.2 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.7 million registered bed nights (+12.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.7 million nights (+7.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.0 million nights (+32.5 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 15.5 % (-0.6 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 11.3 % and foreign bed nights 30.9 %.

375,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased less than one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 64.5 percent were domestic, and 35.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During March, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.7 nights (+0.05) and foreigners 2.4 nights (+0.25).

1.2 million air travelers

The airport received a total of 1.2 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased two percent.

Of local passengers, 72.8 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 27.2 %.

In addition, there were 1.2 million passengers departing the airport (+6.7 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2.4 million (+4.2 %).

Registered accommodation sales in March were 580.7 million crowns (+1.8 million).

Registered January-March sales were 1.5 billion crowns and they decreased 4.7 million crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in March was 567,000 (-7.4 %). Out of them 188,000 were on a daytrip and 379,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and March was 1.7 million (-5.8 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in March was 1.4 billion crowns (2,554 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.2 billion crowns and day visitors 256.1 million crowns. Between January and March the consumption was 4.8 billion crowns.
