Registered bed nights increased one percent

In June 2018, 927,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+1.2 %), of which 431,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 496,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased one percent and registered foreign bed nights increased four percent. In total, registered bed nights increased one percent from last year's June.

267,000 rooms (+3.7 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 262,000 rooms (+7.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 2.4 million registered bed nights (-1.8 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2.0 million (+9.9 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 4.5 million (+3.2 %) registered nights.

Market share 14.0 percent

Total of 6.6 million registered bed nights (+3.4 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.7 million nights (+2.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.0 million nights (+4.7 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 14.0 % (-0.3 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 9.3 % and foreign bed nights 25.4 %.

437,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased one percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 51.1 percent were domestic, and 48.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.9 nights (+0.06) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.08).

1.3 million air travelers

The airport received a total of 1.3 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased less than one percent.

Of local passengers, 77.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 22.7 %.

In addition, there were 1.4 million passengers departing the airport (+0.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2.8 million (+0.4 %).

Registered accommodation sales in June were 870.0 million crowns (+77.9 million).

Registered January-June sales were 3.9 billion crowns and they increased 166.0 million crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in June was 944,000 (-4.5 %). Out of them 434,000 were on a daytrip and 510,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and June was 4.5 million (-2.9 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in June was 1.9 billion crowns (2,027 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.5 billion crowns and day visitors 398.4 million crowns. Between January and June the consumption was 10.2 billion crowns.
