Registered bed nights increased six percent
In August 2018, 1.1 million registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+6.3 %), of which 514,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 615,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased seven percent and registered foreign bed nights increased six percent. In total, registered bed nights increased six percent from last year's August.
339,000 rooms (+10.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 250,000 rooms (+4.6 %) by business visitors.
Between January and August, 3.4 million registered bed nights (-0.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 3.3 million (+9.7 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 6.7 million (+4.3 %) registered nights.
Registered bed nights statistics include stats for registered accommodations: hotels, holiday villages, youth hostels and campsites. Establishments with fewer than 9 beds or 5 rooms are excluded.

506,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation
Arrivals to registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 51.0 percent were domestic, and 49.0 percent were from foreign countries.
During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 2.0 nights (-0.04) and foreigners 2.5 nights (+0.03).
1.4 million air travelers
The airport received a total of 1.4 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased one percent.
Of local passengers, 78.6 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 21.4 %.
In addition, there were 1.3 million passengers departing the airport (+1.1 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2.7 million (+1.1 %).

Accommodation sales 862.3 million crowns
Registered accommodation sales in August were 862.3 million crowns (+58.2 million).
Registered January-August sales were 5.4 billion crowns and they increased 289.0 million crowns from the previous year.

Domestic visitors and their consumption
The number of domestic visitors in August was 916,000 (+8.5 %). Out of them 372,000 were on a daytrip and 544,000 stayed at least for one night.
The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and August was 6.2 million (-0.5 %).
Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in August was 2.0 billion crowns (2,135 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.6 billion crowns and day visitors 390.0 million crowns. Between January and August the consumption was 13.5 billion crowns.

Coefficients of number of daily visitors and overnight visitors are calculated regional and monthly level.
