Registered bed nights increased four percent

In October 2018, 844,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+3.5 %), of which 511,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 333,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased three percent and registered foreign bed nights increased five percent. In total, registered bed nights increased four percent from last year's October.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (27,000 nights).

231,000 rooms (+13.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 303,000 rooms (+2.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 4.4 million registered bed nights (-0.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 4.0 million (+8.9 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 8.5 million (+4.0 %) registered nights.

Market share 21.6 percent

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+6.1 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.0 million nights (+5.1 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 956,000 nights (+9.2 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 21.6 % (-0.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 17.3 % and foreign bed nights 34.8 %.

444,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased three percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 66.8 percent were domestic, and 33.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.7 nights (+0.01) and foreigners 2.3 nights (+0.03).

1.3 million air travelers

The airport received a total of 1.3 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased one percent.

Of local passengers, 71.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 28.6 %.

In addition, there were 1.3 million passengers departing the airport (-1.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2.6 million (-1.3 %).

Registered accommodation sales in October were 754.8 million crowns (+14.7 million).

Registered January-October sales were 7.0 billion crowns and they increased 331.0 million crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in October was 857,000 (+2.2 %). Out of them 330,000 were on a daytrip and 527,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and October was 8.2 million (-0.5 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in October was 1.7 billion crowns (1,980 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.4 billion crowns and day visitors 319.1 million crowns. Between January and October the consumption was 17.0 billion crowns.
