Registered bed nights increased four percent

In February 2019, 630,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+3.6 %), of which 375,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 255,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased four percent and registered foreign bed nights increased four percent. In total, registered bed nights increased four percent from last year's February.

194,000 rooms (+22.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 220,000 rooms (-0.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and February, 737,000 registered bed nights (+6.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 498,000 (+3.8 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 1.2 million (+5.3 %) registered nights.

Market share 14.7 percent

Total of 4.3 million registered bed nights (+2.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.3 million nights (+3.6 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 954,000 nights (+0.0 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 14.7 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 11.3 % and foreign bed nights 26.8 %.

336,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased six percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 66.0 percent were domestic, and 34.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During February, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.7 nights (-0.02) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.11).

940,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 940,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased three percent.

Of local passengers, 71.1 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 28.9 %.

In addition, there were 991,000 passengers departing the airport (-3.3 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.9 million (-3.0 %).

Registered accommodation sales in February were 522.0 million crowns (+11.9 million).

Registered January-February sales were 1.0 billion crowns and they increased 51.4 million crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in February was 638,000 (+5.0 %). Out of them 284,000 were on a daytrip and 354,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and February was 1.2 million (+8.3 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in February was 2.1 billion crowns (3,251 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.8 billion crowns and day visitors 262.9 million crowns. Between January and February the consumption was 3.6 billion crowns.
