Registered bed nights increased nine percent

In June 2019, 1.0 million registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+8.7 %), of which 512,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 496,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 19 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased less than one percent. In total, registered bed nights increased nine percent from last year's June.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (77,600 nights).

329,000 rooms (+23.3 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 255,000 rooms (-2.7 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 2.7 million registered bed nights (+11.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2.0 million (-1.6 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 4.7 million (+5.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 7.1 million registered bed nights (+7.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.0 million nights (+8.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 2.1 million nights (+5.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 14.2 % (+0.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 10.2 % and foreign bed nights 23.9 %.

481,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 10 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 54.4 percent were domestic, and 45.6 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 2.0 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.05).

1.3 million air travelers

The airport received a total of 1.3 million passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased one percent.

Of local passengers, 78.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 21.6 %.

In addition, there were 1.4 million passengers departing the airport (-3.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2.7 million (-2.5 %).

Registered accommodation sales in June were 891.6 million crowns (+21.6 million).

Registered January-June sales were 4.1 billion crowns and they increased 154.0 million crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in June was 1.1 million (+17.1 %). Out of them 508,000 were on a daytrip and 598,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and June was 5.0 million (+12.1 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in June was 2.2 billion crowns (2,027 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.8 billion crowns and day visitors 466.7 million crowns. Between January and June the consumption was 11.4 billion crowns.
