336,000 registered bed nights

In August 2020, 336,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (-71.9 %), of which 254,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 81,800 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 57 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 86 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 72 percent from last year's August.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Germany (10,800 nights).

128,000 rooms (-67.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 67,800 rooms (-72.2 %) by business visitors.

Between January and August, 1.9 million registered bed nights (-52.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 822,000 (-74.4 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 2.7 million (-62.2 %) registered nights.

Total of 6.1 million registered bed nights (-31.8 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 5.4 million nights (-10.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 615,000 nights (-77.9 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 5.6 % (-7.9 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 4.7 % and foreign bed nights 13.3 %.

164,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 69 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 82.0 percent were domestic, and 18.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During August, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.9 nights (-0.12) and foreigners 2.8 nights (+0.29).

232,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 232,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals decreased 83 percent.

Of local passengers, 72.4 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 27.6 %.

In addition, there were 198,000 passengers departing the airport (-84.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 430,000 (-83.6 %).

Registered January-August sales were 1.8 billion crowns and they decreased 3.8 billion crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in August was 479,000 (-54.0 %). Out of them 195,000 were on a daytrip and 284,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and August was 3.3 million (-53.4 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in August was 1.0 billion crowns (2,135 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 819.0 million crowns and day visitors 204.0 million crowns. Between January and August the consumption was 7.8 billion crowns.
