Registered bed nights increased 85 percent

In June 2021, 347,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+84.8 %), of which 272,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 74,600 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 85 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 83 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 85 percent from last year's June.

118,000 rooms (+79.4 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 90,300 rooms (+66.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and June, 1.2 million registered bed nights (-11.0 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 339,000 (-50.5 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 1.5 million (-24.3 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.9 million registered bed nights (+34.5 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.5 million nights (+31.4 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 455,000 nights (+76.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 7.1 % (+1.9 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 6.1 % and foreign bed nights 16.4 %.

174,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 104 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 83.1 percent were domestic, and 16.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During June, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.9 nights (-0.17) and foreigners 2.5 nights (-0.46).

225,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 225,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 290 percent.

Of local passengers, 66.5 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 33.5 %.

In addition, there were 281,000 passengers departing the airport (+351.5 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 507,000 (+320.0 %).

Registered accommodation sales in June were 194.6 million crowns (+91.3 million).

Registered January-June sales were 820.0 million crowns and they decreased 694.0 million crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in June was 616,000 (+103.9 %). Out of them 283,000 were on a daytrip and 333,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and June was 2.0 million (-11.6 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in June was 1.2 billion crowns (2,027 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 988.1 million crowns and day visitors 259.8 million crowns. Between January and June the consumption was 4.5 billion crowns.
