Registered bed nights increased 62 percent

In October 2021, 676,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+62.1 %), of which 496,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 180,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 59 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 73 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 62 percent from last year's October.

232,000 rooms (+56.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 193,000 rooms (+82.5 %) by business visitors.

Between January and October, 3.1 million registered bed nights (+26.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 1.1 million (+8.8 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 4.2 million (+21.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 3.9 million registered bed nights (+25.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.2 million nights (+19.8 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 708,000 nights (+57.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 17.4 % (+4.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 15.6 % and foreign bed nights 25.4 %.

350,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 76 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 78.1 percent were domestic, and 21.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During October, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.8 nights (-0.11) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.46).

565,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 565,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 135 percent.

Of local passengers, 73.3 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 26.7 %.

In addition, there were 587,000 passengers departing the airport (+139.6 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.2 million (+137.2 %).

Registered accommodation sales in October were 480.6 million crowns (+236.1 million).

Registered January-October sales were 2.4 billion crowns and they increased 99.2 million crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in October was 787,000 (+63.0 %). Out of them 303,000 were on a daytrip and 484,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and October was 5.4 million (+26.4 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in October was 1.6 billion crowns (1,980 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.3 billion crowns and day visitors 293.1 million crowns. Between January and October the consumption was 10.8 billion crowns.
