Registered bed nights increased 200 percent

In May 2022, 856,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+200.5 %), of which 563,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 293,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 147 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 420 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 200 percent from last year's May.

287,000 rooms (+192.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 266,000 rooms (+215.1 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 2.0 million registered bed nights (+118.2 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 923,000 (+249.1 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 2.9 million (+147.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 5.4 million registered bed nights (+64.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.4 million nights (+46.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 993,000 nights (+241.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 15.9 % (+7.2 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 12.8 % and foreign bed nights 29.5 %.

438,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 230 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 71.0 percent were domestic, and 29.0 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.8 nights (-0.18) and foreigners 2.3 nights (-0.93).

932,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 932,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 540 percent.

Of local passengers, 77.7 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 22.3 %.

In addition, there were 920,000 passengers departing the airport (+529.0 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 1.9 million (+533.5 %).

Registered accommodation sales in May were 839.1 million crowns (+679.2 million).

Registered January-May sales were 2.4 billion crowns and they increased 1.8 billion crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in May was 995,000 (+171.8 %). Out of them 425,000 were on a daytrip and 570,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and May was 3.4 million (+147.2 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in May was 1.7 billion crowns (1,688 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.4 billion crowns and day visitors 312.9 million crowns. Between January and May the consumption was 7.7 billion crowns.
