Registered bed nights increased 52 percent

In September 2022, 826,000 registered bed nights were recorded in Stockholm (+51.9 %), of which 515,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 311,000 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 33 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 100 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 52 percent from last year's September.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from United States (54,500 nights).

279,000 rooms (+43.5 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 274,000 rooms (+76.3 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 4.2 million registered bed nights (+63.9 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 2.6 million (+182.5 %) for foreigners in Stockholm, in total 6.8 million (+95.1 %) registered nights.

Total of 4.6 million registered bed nights (+13.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.6 million nights (+8.5 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 980,000 nights (+35.4 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Stockholm out of total registered bed nights was 17.9 % (+4.5 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 14.2 % and foreign bed nights 31.8 %.

413,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 55 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 68.5 percent were domestic, and 31.5 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Stockholm on average 1.8 nights (-0.06) and foreigners 2.4 nights (-0.18).

985,000 air travelers

The airport received a total of 985,000 passengers, which means air passenger arrivals increased 108 percent.

Of local passengers, 77.9 % arrived from abroad, thus the share of domestic passengers was 22.1 %.

In addition, there were 1.0 million passengers departing the airport (+104.2 %), therefore the total number of trips via the airport was 2.0 million (+105.9 %).

Registered accommodation sales in September were 939.4 million crowns (+564.2 million).

Registered January-September sales were 5.8 billion crowns and they increased 3.9 billion crowns from the previous year.

The number of domestic visitors in September was 1.2 million (+37.0 %). Out of them 742,000 were on a daytrip and 436,000 stayed at least for one night.

The cumulative number of domestic visitors between January and September was 7.8 million (+68.6 %).

Total consumption of these visitors in Stockholm in September was 1.9 billion crowns (1,608 per visitor). Overnight visitors spent 1.3 billion crowns and day visitors 587.6 million crowns. Between January and September the consumption was 15.9 billion crowns.
