Registered bed nights increased 13 percent

In September 2019, 43,200 bed nights were recorded in Sundsvall (+13.3 %), of which 38,600 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 4,600 nights by foreigners. Domestic bed nights increased 16 percent and foreign bed nights decreased six percent. In total, bed nights increased 13 percent from last year's September.

9,000 rooms (+13.8 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 21,100 rooms (+24.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and September, 385,000 bed nights (+4.1 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 53,100 (-20.3 %) for foreigners in Sundsvall, in total 438,000 (+0.4 %) nights.

Total of 4.5 million bed nights (+2.0 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 3.4 million nights (+3.2 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 1.2 million nights (-1.1 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Sundsvall out of total bed nights was 1.0 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.4 %.

27,000 tourists arrived to accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 13 percent compared to earlier year. Of all arrivals, 92.2 percent were domestic, and 7.8 percent were from foreign countries.

During September, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sundsvall on average 1.6 nights (+0.03) and foreigners 2.2 nights (-0.16).
