Registered bed nights increased 71 percent

In May 2022, 55,100 registered bed nights were recorded in Sundsvall (+71.4 %), of which 47,700 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 7,300 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights increased 57 percent and registered foreign bed nights increased 340 percent. In total, registered bed nights increased 71 percent from last year's May.

Most foreign registered bed nights were recorded for travelers from Slovakia (1,500 nights).

13,600 rooms (+121.0 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 23,200 rooms (+90.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and May, 182,000 registered bed nights (+43.3 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 24,800 (+217.5 %) for foreigners in Sundsvall, in total 207,000 (+53.4 %) registered nights.

Total of 5.4 million registered bed nights (+64.2 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 4.4 million nights (+46.9 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 993,000 nights (+241.6 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Sundsvall out of total registered bed nights was 1.0 % (0.0 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.1 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

33,500 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation increased 80 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 87.1 percent were domestic, and 12.9 percent were from foreign countries.

During May, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sundsvall on average 1.6 nights (-0.08) and foreigners 1.7 nights (-0.2).
