20,400 registered bed nights

In December 2020, 20,400 registered bed nights were recorded in Sundsvall (-42.2 %), of which 19,000 nights were spent by domestic visitors and 1,400 nights by foreigners. Registered domestic bed nights decreased 43 percent and registered foreign bed nights decreased 30 percent. In total, registered bed nights decreased 42 percent from last year's December.

5,700 rooms (-29.9 %) were booked by leisure visitors and 7,100 rooms (-41.8 %) by business visitors.

Between January and December, 417,000 registered bed nights (-16.4 %) were recorded for domestic visitors and 23,000 (-62.7 %) for foreigners in Sundsvall, in total 440,000 (-21.5 %) registered nights.

Total of 1.8 million registered bed nights (-47.3 %) were recorded in the whole country, of which 1.6 million nights (-40.0 %) were spent by domestic visitors and 208,000 nights (-72.8 %) by foreigners.

The market share of Sundsvall out of total registered bed nights was 1.1 % (+0.1 percentage points), out of domestic bed nights 1.2 % and foreign bed nights 0.7 %.

Length of stay increased seven percent in registered accommodation

Length of stay in registered accommodation increased seven percent compared to earlier year. In Sundsvall, length of stay in December was on average 1.6 nights and in Sweden 2.8 nights (+37.5 %).

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sundsvall on average 1.6 nights (+3.4 %) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-3.5 %).

13,000 tourists arrived to registered accommodation

Arrivals to registered accommodation decreased 46 percent compared to earlier year. Of all registered arrivals, 93.8 percent were domestic, and 6.2 percent were from foreign countries.

During December, domestic visitors stayed in registered accommodation in Sundsvall on average 1.6 nights (+0.11) and foreigners 1.8 nights (-0.03).
